Trek Highlights
This is one of the most popular and beautiful trek in ladakh.This trek start from Spituk village around 7 km from Leh and resume at Hemis. This trek pass through high pasture land of Nimaling 4700m and Kongmarula 5100m and the area is home to endangered wild lives. This trek also gives you an opportunity to interact with local people.Day 1: Spituk-Zinchen 4hrs. After breakfast drive to Spituk around 7 kms from Leh town. Start your trek through flat and desolate plane and arrive Zinchen through a gorge. Overnight in Camp at Zinchen. Day 2: Zingchen to Yurutse 4-5 hrs.
Today we have to follow the trail straight towards Hemis national park.Follow a narrow trail and arrive Rumbak and camp at Yurutse below Gandala Pass.Day 3: Yurutse to Skyu 6-7 hrs After breakfast follow the trail along the mountain side and start ascent towards Ganda La pass (4900m) and descent towards Shingo village and arrive in Skyu 3980m. Day 4: Sku to Markha 7-8 hrs Following the Markha River, we will hike through its valley till we arrive in Markha, the largest village in the valley, consisting of around 20 houses. Day 5: Markha to Thachungtse 5-6 hrs
The Markha valley trail continues down the path that intersects the river several times before cutting through the last hamlets in the valley Overnight in tents.Day 6: Thachungtse to Nimaling 4-5 hrs Today the trail ascent toward Nimaling 4700m, which is the highest camp on the trek, giving us spectacular views of Kang Yatse and Zangskar Range. Day 7: Nimaling to Shang Sumdo-6-7 hrs After breakfast start ascent towards Kongmaru La (5100m) the highest pass on the trek. The pass offer nice views of mountains and villages of the Indus valley. The descend is steep and proceed to Shang Sumdo where we will camp for last night of trek. Day 8: Shang Sumdo- Leh -5 hrs
The last day of trek is very easy, walk down along the stream visit famous Hemis and Thiksay monastery and drive back to leh. |
