Trek Highlights


Mankarmo Stok kangri lies to the south of Leh and it is one of the most popular peak in Ladakh.The Stok kangri or Kanglachan is not technically difficult but one must acclimatized properly while in Leh. It gives you the opportunity to climb 6150m peak in just 4 days or less than 4 days. An experienced climber can climb this peak in just two days.

Day 1: Leh - Mankarmo (4 - 5 hrs)
We start driving from Leh in the morning towards Stok village around 20 minutes drive. On reaching Stok we will meet with pony man and start the trail up along the left bank of the river. Carry on across a meadow and then through a gorge. Arrive Mancarmo (pasture land for the villagers of Stok) in the afternoon and camp at Mankarmo 4300m.

Day 2: Mankarmo - advanced base camp (5 - 6 hrs)
Mankarmo After breakfast at 4300 altitude, we continue to ascents gently. We pass through a group of herds the valley divides and a beautiful view of Stok Kangri from the west. We then ascents in to a flat area and arrive at base camp. From base camp we climb up the steep path to a small pass at the top of ridges. From the ridges we follow the trail towards south west and arrive at advanced base camp 5300m which is surrounded by snow capped high mountains and beautiful views over Indus valley.

Day 3: Advanced Base Camp - Summit - Base Camp1 (10-11 hrs)
Stok Village We wake up around 4 am, we will have a cup of tea or coffee and follow the trail towards south east ridges by climbing a snow slope with ice axe, crampons and may be rope and arrive at the summit (6250m) after walking through loose rock. The Stok kangri summit offers spectacular views of snow-capped mountains and the great Karakuram ranges. We follow the same route for the descent to base camp 5000m.

Day 4: After breakfast we start descends towards stok village where a car will be waiting for us. We visit Stok museum and drive back to Leh.
